9th August Thursday

3.00 pm 

-  Wida  Highway Motel - Arrival.

7.30 pm 

-  Opening ceremony

    IIFWP, WFWP, FFWP representatives were present.
    Main guest: - Minister of labour and vocational training Hon Isaac Ruto who
    gave a speech and officially opened the workshop.

9.00 pm

- Banquet and closing.

10th August Friday - 1st day of orientation.

 7.00 am

- Motto: "unity of purpose"
- Song, Prayer and meditation

9.00 am

Introduction of individuals. E ach participant introduced himself/ herself and their respective organization or institution.  Mastering other's names through their nickname and body language.

10.30 am

Background of IRFF/RYS
- The founders motive and history of organisation.
- The purpose of IRFF/IIWFP
- Presenter: Dr. Massimo.

11.00 am

Norms

  • The do's and don'ts to guide the participants through the workshop.
  • Enables different people to live together and achieve success.
  • In four groups - participants are visualise the success of the project if the norms are put into consideration.
  • With a motto, reporters gave the ideas of the group and explanation of the posters.

Mottos displayed were:

  • Together we serve
  • Unity can move mountains
  • Unity is our strength and in God we trust
  • Together we succeed.

12.00 noon

History of the site (Lugari District) by Mr. Witinga (a resident of Lugari)

12.30 pm: 

Discussion based on the following questions:

  1. What do you believe
  2. How is your understanding of " ultimate reality" change with time
  3. Is prayer important to you
  4. In your tradition what is more important prayer or action.
  5. Service is a form of prayer

2.00 pm

Slide presentation on the view of IRFF/ RYS title; "What a future!"

3.30 pm

- Discussing  peace and the theme of the project.
- Group discussions, brain storming on implementing the culture of peace.
- Presentation from reporters of each group

8.00 pm

Session on HIV- AIDS epindemic.
Testimony and experience of IIFWP representative in Tanzania by Arnold Kashembe.
Title: Losses and gains of sexual activities.

9.30  pm

Reflection

10.00 pm

Closing after prayer.

11th August Saturday

  • Motto " let your light shine". This was followed Song, Prayer and meditation

1st  Session - Special need of Africa
In groups discussion on:

  1. Why is Africa poor
  2. Define Ethnicity and ethnical groups
  3. Define and explain the meaning of:
  • Meditation                    Conflict
  • Negotiation                   Dispute
  • Facilitation                    Conciliation
  • Consensus                    Arbitration

    Creating a motto and visualize how to resolve ethnical conflicts

2nd Session - Interactive styles

      Leadership Qualities
      Formation of teams for all activities and work to come. 
      Teams formed - their names as follows:

      1. Bulldozers
      2. Pacesetters
      3. Victor Victoria
      4. Hope providers

      Their mottos were visualized on posters.

12th August Sunday

  • Motto: "They will be done", Song, Prayer and meditation

8.00am     -    travelling

   -         Sight seeing - Lake Nakuru National Park famous for flamingoes.

7.30 pm    -    Arrival, dinner and closing.

13th August Monday

      • Motto: Don't walk infront of me, I might not follow
      • Don't walk behind me, I may not lead ,walk beside me, and be my friend.

11.00am

-   Opening ceremony
-         District Officer was the main guest among other guests.
-         Laying of stones by the official guests and planting trees.

-    Work and assigning of duties to all teams.

-   Evaluating the days work.

-   Prayer and closing.

14th August Tuesday

  • Motto:  " No pain No gain", Song, prayer and meditation

8.00 am - 3.00 pm   work  and 2 breaks of 30 minutes inclusive

4.00 pm - 5.30 pm  Resting time

5.30 pm - 7.00 pm  Work

8.00 pm - session on HIV - AIDS epidemic

                 Title "condoms" a presentation by Moses Gimeyi (Uganda)

15th August Wednesday

  • Motto: "When darkness comes, stars appear"

8.00 - 3.00 pm work,  1 hr 30 min break

5.30 - 7.00 pm - work

9.00 pm - Session of presentation

-         "Sex, Abstinence a practical Approach" by Twisibile

9.30 pm - prayer and closing

16th August Thursday

  • Motto: "One for all - all for one"

            Work like the day before.

9.30 pm - Team meetings to discuss and evaluate the achievements and way forward.

-         Each participant giving the view and changes expected.

-         Each team presented their ideas.

17th August Friday

  • Motto: "Where there is a will there is a way", Song, prayer meditation.

Work like the previous day

9.30 pm

Kenyatta University students gave their experiences as members of peer counseling in their institution.

10.00 pm

Presentation on Islam doctrine by Yusuf Nour Mohamud.

10.30 pm

Closing and prayer from the holy quran

18th August Saturday.

  • Motto: "Rising from the ashes"

Work as the previous day (7 hrs)

9.30 pm   - Session on "How to abstain?" by YFWP chairperson Mr. Tanui.

10.00 pm - Prayer and closing

19th August Sunday.

-         Inter-denomination  service

-         Representatives from:

    • Catholic
    • Christian Presbyterian
    • Christian Pentecostal
    • Anglican
    • Islam
      • - Each one gave a prayer and teaching or reading

        - Lit a candle after their prayers.

        - All participants lit their candles from one lighting candle and raising above our heads, blow the other (neighbours) candle.  To symbolise unity and giving out ourselves to others in the world irrespective of which denomination we belong.

      9.30 am - 3.00pm - work

      5.30 - 7.00 pm      - work.

      9.30 pm - testimonies from participants.

20th August Monday

  • Motto: "Fight a good fight, and finish the race", Song, prayer and meditation

Work as the previous day.

9.30 pm - Culture night

-         Each team prepared a presentation. These items were:

-         Poems, dances, skits, Jokes and songs

-         All these was about sharing together as one family.

11.00 pm - prayer and closing

21st August Tuesday

  • Motto: "A friend in need is a friend in deed", Song, prayer and meditation.

8.30 am - 10.30 pm - Reflection

-         Each participant alone in silence to pray and reflect. In addition:

    1. Write the things you liked most
    2. What was the most important part of the project
    3. What did you learn
    4. What needs to be improved
    5. What in these experience do you want to utilize in your community.

11.00 am  - In teams, visualise the achievements and the change brought about to individuals and community at large.

  • Shared together from each team
  • Took official photographs.
  • Japanese doctors arrived for a free medical check-up organised by WFWP at the site.

4.00 pm  -  Closing ceremony

-         Issued certificates to participants

-         Vote of thanks from the locals and participants thanking the community for their cooperation and for hosting us.(the Handow Secondary School)
