| IRFF is charting a new course, steered by a vision of world peace
through compassion and action, focusing on youth, service and
inter-action programs.

| Educational Programs
|
|
|
|
To provide education for disadvantaged and illiterate children
suffering from poverty is to give them the tools to build a productive,
self-reliant life. Education is a long-term effort, an unconditional
service that will enable people to contribute meaningfully to
the progress of their community. IRFF has supported and initiated
schools and projects in different parts of the world. Several
IRFF Europe chapters are investing in this field through Long Distance
Adoption Programs (LDAP).
|
| Development Assistance
|
|
|
|
Severe famine and
hunger-related problems worldwide are the primary cause of death
and poor health among children in the developing nations. External
assistance in the form of food aid will never solve the recurring
cycle of poverty. IRFF fosters long-term development through sustainable
efforts in agricultural education. These training programs instruct
young persons in appropriate technologies and methods that fit
the local situation and resources. Some good work in this field
is being done by the Agricultural Development activities of the
IRFF chapters in Ghana, Uganda and Cameroon.
|
| Medical Programs
|
|
|
|
IRFF medical teams
are mobilized to work in emergency situations, to alleviate immediate
suffering and to lay a foundation of preventive health education.
Although IRFF did work in the refugee camps and famine areas that
attracted media major attention, IRFF's main focus is on improving
the standard of health care through educating local groups on
nutrition, hygiene and sanitation. These low-profile activities
have a great impact in improving health conditions of the people
year after year. The IRFF chapter in Cote d'Ivoire provides the
best example of this work.

| Volunteers and Youth Camps |
|
| |
The hope for a peaceful world can be realized if humanity can
overcome conflicts between religions, race and cultures. The
Religious Youth Service (RYS) addresses these problems
in a unique and creative way. IRFF has been cooperating with the
RYS since 1986, by sponsoring and co-participating in 35 of the
100 international, local and regional projects done by the RYS.
On this foundation, IRFF has started to organize Youth Volunteer
Camps under the theme of "The Culture of Peace". and most recently Family and Service
project on the theme "Culture of Peace through a Culture
of Heart". |
